In setting out to design the A-753x Carver’s engineering team drew on lessons learned in the design and building of the acclaimed Lightstar Reference amplifier, a development hailed recently in “FI” magazine as “evidence that Carver Corporation has made a strong commitment to first-rate build quality as well as to engineering innovation.” The A-753x uses Carver’s newest power amplification technology “Magnified Current”. This technology enables the A-753x to provide either twice the continuous voltage or twice the continuous current needed by the loudspeaker load at any given time. With more than enough current and voltage-peak or continuous- the Lightstar-inspired A-753x is the ultimate consumer amplifier on the market today.
  • Certified by Lucasfilm, Ltd. for use in home THX audio systems
  • Maqnified Current technology for increasing voltage and current capability
  • Total Direct Couplinq for high damping factor at all frequencies
  • Each channel protected by: individual fusing, excess temperature sense, DC fault sense, power-on delay, shorted load sense.
  • Minimal signal path design, with on card I/O connectors eliminating internal interconnect cables
  • Gold Plated RCA Jack Connections
  • Three analog lighted meters with range selection switch
  • Meter light On/Off switch
  • Individual calibrated level trim controls for each channel
  • Removable handles for 17″ cabinet space (with trim caps)

Hi – the A-753x Carver amplifier, what year was it built/manufactured?

  2. Jim Croft says:

I was in charge of Research and Development at Carver Corporation during the development of this amplifier.

To the best of my memory, it was first manufactured in 1995 and continued through 1997.

I have a phase linear 400 for my JBL 4341 studio monitors. Thay fit very well together but I need a third channel for my center loudspeaker. Anyone have experience with the carver 753x in combination with JBL studio monitors?

Great amps. I own three A-series (200,753x and 760x) and they’re the best Carvers I ever owned. I owned most of the series except for the M-200t and the Lightstar Reference. In terms of performance I’ve always ranked them as “First gen” or prototype “Sunfires”. Audiophile amplifiers of the highest order.

  7. Rick says:

Followup: I still have them in systems today. I went on to two Sunfire Sig Stereos (600×2) and one Sunfire Signature Cinema Grand-fives. The family resemblances are positive and not hard to see/hear/experience. The best of the best….

I need to correct the first post: I meant to type A-220 instead of 200. They’re still going GREAT guns (and sound fantastic!) after Twenty-Two years!
