Eric. I also use Cerwin vega's with my Carver TFM-25. In pairs i've run...(models D-9 and DX-9, and model VS-120) The VS-120's are about the same as your D-7's. All I can say is for the money the Cerwins should function just fine. Also, you may not find much else (unless you spend hundreds more) that deliver the bass response as the Cerwins. The only issue i've come across with most Cerwins are their surrounds. Fortunately, replacement surrounds are available via the net, and they are not at all that complex to replace on your own. The most difficult and time consuming is removing the old material from the speaker cone and aluminum frame. Then making sure you use enough glue while properly lining up the new surround the first time around. Although I also own a pair of Carver AL-3 plus's, and a pair of Carver Silver edition speakers, if I had to choose another option it would be the Cerwins. Believe me, i've ruined many a high end speaker trying to get the same kick butt sound as those Vega's. .... Just my 2cents............Michael

I just bought a Carver HR-895 receiver with a 30 day warranty at a small audio shop in my city for only $85. This system works great, all displays still work and everything. I was just wondering, I am looking for this receiver for its stereo system (i.e. cds, ipod) capabilities so what sort of floor speakers should I look for so I can have some wall shaking bass but clearity of music at the same time? I currently have two Cerwin Vega D-7 floor speakers hooked up, using 16 guage wire, and the speakers say their impedance is 4-8 ohms. I am not running the risk of burning these speakers up in the mean time am I?
