I simply had to respond to Phil Bonnice's post about discharging caps. I've been an electronics tech for over 25 yrs and still love the pop of shorting out the caps posts. But that isn't the right way to do it. It can be hard on the caps. The proper way to discharge caps is to put a load on them. That can be anything from a 10 ohm 25 watt resistor wired to ground or wire up a 60 watts light bulb and connect that to the capacitor's terminals.

But you have to admit... 10000 uF is a lot of stored energy.

I work on broadcast transmitters and we use a grounding stick to discharge huge caps at very high voltage! Nice pop there I tell ya :)

@trav. it is just your power relay for the switch. i have this amp as well as a ct-3 tuner. that same thing happened to my tuner. it just started clicking, but never making contact, so it wouldn't fire up. we had to order mine from somewhere in the uk. you can find them. it is an easy install. just a solder job, and you're good to go.

Simply the best home amplifier I've ever owned, great power and the analog meters are so cool! The thing pumps out the wattage and runs very cool, you can't go wrong with this amp, it's a keeper that's for sure.

How does one acquire bulbs for the analog meters. Both have burned out. Would appreciate any guidance on this, since they appear to be scarce.
